ChaliceChaplain's Message

The School Year 2007-2008 has been a wonderful time of growth and achievements. The poem, “When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking” by Mary Rita Schilke Korzan speaks of the beauty of life and learning.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you hang my first painting
On the refrigerator ...
And I wanted to paint another.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you feed a stray cat ...
And I thought it was good
To be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you bake a birthday cake just for me ...
And I knew that little things
Were special things.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I heard you say a prayer ...
And I believed there was a God
That I could talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I felt you kiss me good-night ...
And I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes ...
And I learned that sometimes things hurt
But it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw you smile ...
And it made me want to look
That pretty too.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I saw that you cared ...
And I wanted to be everything I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking,
I looked ...
And wanted to say "Thanks"
For all the things I saw
When you thought I wasn't looking,

Congratulations for a job well done!

Have a great and safe summer!

Saint of the Month

Sundar Singh of India,
Sadhu (holy man), Evangelist,
Teacher of the Faith, 1929
19 June

Born of wealthy Sikh parents, Sundar Singh was  converted to Christianity after experiencing a vision. He was baptised in the Anglican church at Simla in 1905. In an endeavour to present Christianity in a Hindu form, he donned the robes of a 'Sadhu' or holy man and travelled much around the Indian   sub-continent. He even made a visit to Tibet, where he persisted in strenuous work, despite ill health. He went missing there, presumed murdered, in April 1929.
