Counseling

Welcome to the Middle School Counselor Page!

The goal of this medium of communication is to keep up on various issues and concerns that your children are dealing with at school. It is hoped that this will help open up communication between parents, students as well as teachers.

March 2012

Can you believe we are already three quarters through the school year?!?  Quarter 3 flew by.  Teachers worked hard organizing school camps and the students thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Just after camps I did classroom lessons on ethical use of technology.  Grade 6 focused on being a responsible digital citizen, and Grades 7 and 8 focused on cyber-bullying.

We have many things to look forward to during Quarter 4.

Orientations
Grade 8 students have already participated in a Grade 9 Orientation.   We are currently planning the Grade 5 Orientation to Middle School which will take place May 7 and May 8.  There will be an afternoon parent session as well.  More details to come.

Coffee Talk
We have a parent Coffee Talk on Organization Skills coming up soon on Thursday April 19.

Student Council
The Student Council is busy planning the annual field trip to Enchanted Kingdom.  This will take place on April 30th after a morning of House Events, look for permission slips soon!  They are also working on a fundraiser resulting in teachers performing a Lip Sync on house day and a Red Carpet Themed Dance in May.  Student Council Elections will be held in May, and information about that will be given to the students after the Easter break.

Guidance
Students have written their S.M.A.R.T. Goals for Quarter 4 in homeroom and will be doing a reflection on this at the end of the Quarter.  There is so much going on this quarter that I decided not to do any classroom guidance lessons.  With all the special events I want students to be able to maximize class time and finish the year strong!
