Boys Basketball Rules
Rules: FIBA rules shall govern the games, except, as modified under these rules.
- All ISAC games will consist of four (4) 8-minute quarters, running clock.
- 1.1 The clock stops only when
- free throws are administered
- timeouts are granted
- there is an unusual delay and the referee signals to stop the clock
- 1.2 A regulation clock shall apply for the last minute of the first, second and third quarters and the last two (2) minutes of the 4th quarter.
- 1.3 If scores are tied at the end of regulation play, an extension period shall start immediately with the first team to score three (3) points being declared the winner. This extra period shall start with a jump ball; and there will be no time-outs.
- 1.4 The Championship Match shall be played with regulation timing.
- 1.1 The clock stops only when
- There will be a 1-minute break between the 1st two quarters and the last two quarters.
- There will be a 3-minute break at half-time.
- Each team is allowed two (2) 30-second time-outs in the first half and three (3) 30-second time-outs in the second half. Carry-overs will not be allowed.
- A 24-second shot clock will be used for all games.
- Warm-ups should take place at the tennis courts or in Gym #3. Teams should be ready at courtside at least 10 minutes before their listed game time.
- Game time is forfeit time. Under round-robin circumstances no game will start before the published time. If a previous game concludes after the game time of the next match, then there will be no on court warm-up.
- The team listed first on the schedule is designated as the “Home Team” and should wear a light colored uniform. The Home Team bench will be on the left side of the scorer.
- The host school will provide FIBA-approved game balls.
- Winning teams will receive three (3) points; losers, one (1); forfeit, zero.
After the regular round-robin play, places will be determined by the number of accumulated points. Ties will be broken using the ISAC tie-break procedures:
- Head-to-head result – for two or more teams
- FIBA Quotient System (points for divided by points against);
- among teams involved
- in all games
- By lot
The two (2) semi-final games may be swapped in order to allow a team a break if they just competed in round-robin games # 27 and # 28.
In the semi-final round the 1st place team will play the 4th place team; the 2nd place will play the 3rd place team. Winners play for the championship; losers for 3rd.
The Third Place game will be run under the same rules as the round-robin.
The Final Game will consist of four (4) 8-minute quarters, regulation clock; regular FIBA overtime rules/timing in case of tied scores at the end of regulation period.
