Chaplain’s Message
December is that time of the year… A time when everyone thinks of others and of oneself. Toys for the children; cards, and gifts that family give to each other and friends. What counts is the thought and the love that one receives and gives.
Children are happy and gay to get what they have eagerly waited for. Their smile and laughter tells all the excitement and joy in their hearts. The same happiness is shared by all when we give from the heart.
The birth of Jesus, savior and friend to everyone we remember on Christmas day. The Son of God and Prince of Peace was born to bring hope and love to those who believe. He is the source of Life who gives life here and forever. Jesus is the reason of the season of giving and of living.
Christmas is a time of joy, peace, hope and life.
What a wonderful time!
Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!

Poems and Prayers
“Dear Santa”
by Del “Abe” Jones
Dear Santa, I'm older
But, still believe in you
(At least, I believe in
The things you try, to do).
Maybe, I can't ask for
A Tonka, or, a train.
(But, if you'd bring one of them
You know, I won't complain).
But, what I really wish for
Is a special present
Love that can't be "returned"
Once it has been sent.
Everybody needs a little
And some, need a lot
But, if you get a tiny bit
You still know what you got.
So Santa, drop a little
Under each Christmas tree
Then, all will get a present
From what it's 'posed to be.
And if there is no tree
For the alone, and poor
When you get, to their place
Just, drop, a little more.

Saint of the Month
Nicholas, Bishop of Myra
December 6
Nicholas was a fourth‑century bishop of Myra in Asia Minor (southern Turkey). His reputation as a worker of wonders was enhanced by a ninth-century author of his hagiography and he is now best known through these stories. Many of them concern his love and care for children, how he fed the hungry, healed the sick and cared for the oppressed. He saved three girls from a life of prostitution by providing them with dowries and so developed the tradition of bearing gifts to children on his feast day, a practice appropriated by the Christmas celebrations. Nicholas is also one of the patron saints of Russia.
Collect
Almighty Father, lover of souls,
who chose your servant Nicholas
to be a bishop in the Church,
that he might give freely out of the treasures of your grace:
make us mindful of the needs of others
and, as we have received, so teach us also to give;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.
