ISAC Volleyball 2011 Girls Champions

So, this is us, JV girls.

At the start of the year, I didn't know what I was getting myself into. This was a whole different team. But that two month season flew by like crazy, and I spent it with the right people! Those two months together, made us become a team. I told you guys practically everything, from school, to boys, you were like family to me. I'd always look forward to practice, knowing I'd be with you guys at the end of the day.

No one ever thought we'd win the gold, huh, but we sure proved them wrong. But even if we didn't end up winning, I'd still be okay with that because I'd still be standing with these girls at the end of it all. Even if I'll still see you guys around school, I'll still miss all of you. Our team picture brings back so many memories that you guys definitely made ISAC and the whole season one heck of an experience. You guys make me so happy :)

I love all of you to the end of the universe and back.

Ugh, now I can't picture my weekends without you guys, or without a volleyball match. </3.

They say it's lonely at the top, psh, i don't think so. Glad to share it with these people! There goes my sniffles :(

Brent JV Boys

By Fred Kang

The one and only Brent International School Manila hosted this year’s International Schools Activities Conference (ISAC) Junior Volleyball! When the word Volleyball comes to mind, people would most probably associate it with girls playing the game. But this team can prove that thoughtwrong by showing them how it is really to play in the court! Together with their Coach, Josh Ylaya, their games on the court were always energetic and full of intensity that never ceased to catch the full attention of the audience. All of their games did not stop on impressing their audience. The Brent Lions never quitted and persevered until the day of ISAC competitions. They are: Charles Lontoc (Captain – 11), Michael Dabare (Co-Captain - 10), Robert Taylor (11), Jasper Ting (11), Alex Sycip (10), David Kang (10), Mike Park (10), Armand Kaufmann (9), JethroWidjaja (9) and Tony Taylor (9).

They practiced and trained five times a week for two hours in only less than two months. Having torn muscles, blisters, exhaustion and injuries were normal because all they cared about was having fun and winning their game. They never quitted. Coming to school at Saturdays early in the morning and using the time on training in addition of doing schoolwork was their pure decision. The fact here is that, the players love the sport and they want to win and dominate and make Brent proud. It is just who they are and what they do, spiking the ball. They never quitted.

These boys played their games to show their talent in various events such as the MANSAC and the LSMS games we had. Although they missed to be the Champions this year, the audience stored a good and satisfying impression of the Brent Junior Varsity Volleyball Team. But their games are not yet over, with the realization that they needed more training, they never quitted. This year’s volleyball game would be probably the most exciting, unique and intense game!

This year's ISAC Volleyball tournament was held in Brent International School Manila; home of the Lions! The competition consists of 7 schools; Brent Baguio, Brent Subic, Cebu International School, European International School, Southville, British School Manila, and Faith Mindanao. 8 schools in all, but only one champion, our fellow schoolmates in Brent Manila will strive and hopefully, are in it to win it all. Freshmen Captain Patricia Hartleip, Isabel Oreel, Bettina Abella, Ami Nakako, along with Sophomores Sara Kang, Chanel Lontoc, Vendela Siasat, and Juniors Sidney Menez, Arwin Wang, and Vien Bote make up the ISAC Volleyball girls team.

With hard training and determined attitudes, our girls will let their killer instincts shine through their cute exterior. New coaches for our Brent Volleyball team Kevin Burke and Bela Silva have improved the team from the very beginning, polishing and developing the potential of their players to their utmost ability. This year's tournament will have a lot of fun and excitement in store. I strongly suggest you all come by and support the teams. Let's go, Lions!
