JV Boys 2-2!!!

The Junior Varsity Volleyball Team, gaining their experience this year, put a solid effort in their first consecutive games.

Despite the lost during the MANSAC Friday night games last August 29, 2008 at ISM against ISM and Faith the boys were able to have a good come back winning both of their LSMS games against LPC (Las Piñas College) and De La Salle Zobel.

Tommy Gray & Robbie Quimson came away with a flurry of hits and were able to outsmart their opponents. The JV boys won the 1st game vs. LPC and never looked back and won another one against De La Salle-Zobel wining both games in 3 straight sets.

Warren Carman & Santiago Elizalde took care of setting good sets to their hitters namely the Captain Miguel Caruncho. Joma Ejercito and Kyle Sutherland were able to contribute with several aces.

Over-all the team played decently and stuck with our plans and strategies according to Coach Erwin and Coach John.

Please continue to support our boys as they prepare for their approaching ISAC tournament this coming October at Cebu International School. Let’s roar!!! Lions!!!!

Girls JV Volleyball

Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball had a great weekend.  The team started off by beating Faith in straight sets on Friday evening.  Then the team ended the evening with another straight sets defeat of ISM.

Brilliant setting by Jordan Valley and Ana Padilla paved the way for awesome attacks.  Spiking captains Annie Kim and Rachel Robinson led the way.  Helping them up the middle was lefty Misha Buensuceso who was steady till the end.  Another lefty, Fiona Faulkner had some great plays with 10 spikes and only one error.
Newcomer Klarrizze Posadas also made some great smashes while first timer Yoona Kim had some spikes too.
Leading the serving department were Roma Hemlani who had ace after ace, followed by Jordan Valley and Misha who also made many points off service.  Dani Delos Reyes contributed 5 aces along with many successful serves to help her team out as well.

In Saturdays game against Brent Subic, the team also swept in 3 sets.

Setters Ana Padilla and Jordan Valley helped their team out in serving.  Helping them were Clarisse Cucueco and Gladys Lucas who were flawless in that department as well.
Once again, Annie Kim and Rachel Robinson led the spiking with Misha Buencuseso putting up some good numbers as well.

Our manager Addie Subido did a great job with the stats and in managing the team.

Special thanks to all the Brent cheerleaders and parents who outnumbered the ISM backers.  We really appreciate your support!

Brent Lion Baseball Update

The Brent Lion baseball team suffered their first loss of the season in a very hard fought game against Ateneo on Saturday losing by a score of 7-6. The game was a back and forth affair with the lions clawing their way back and tying the score on a host of different occasions.

The Lions were led offensively by Ben Cope who was two for four with a double and a single from the plate. Two other Lions got hits with Seba Martinez-Miranda hitting a single up the middle earning him one RBI. Mark Ong got in the mix as well hitting a monstrous double to straightaway center field to start the fourth inning. While Yujiro Iida earned one RBI scoring Mark Ong later in the same inning on a ground ball to the short stop.

Defensively the Lions did a stellar job in the field with multiple players coming up huge. Mark Ong made an incredible diving catch in the third inning on a hard hit line drive up the middle. While Bam Garcia did a great job behind the plate blocking many pitches that stymied the Ateneo base runners. Ritchie Sarabia also played solid defense at first base making several great catches on balls that were in the dirt.

The Lions continue UBL action next Saturday at 11:30 am against De La Salle Zobel at Ateneo.
