Setting Up Your Classes
Before you can enter
marks in Grade Quick, you must import your class lists. At the beginning of the
year, you must do this for every class that you teach. Semester
subjects (E.g. Computer, Religious Studies, History, Geography, etc.) will need
to go through this process again at the start of Semester 2.
A. Importing your class
Start Grade Quick and log into the program with your Brent username.
1. From the File menu, select New.
![]()
2. You will see a new file warning. You do want to create a new gradebook, so click Yes. A list of class rosters will appear.
3. Select the roster you wish to use and click OK (remember what you have clicked in order to give it a descriptive name later when you save). If the roster is blank, click on Change, locate your name and click on it, then click OK. The list of students under that roster should now appear in your gradebook.

Note: NEVER type or change a student’s name or ID number directly into your gradebooks! Only the office is allowed to add, change or drop a student from your list. These changes will automatically be made available to your existing gradebooks the next time you open them.
B. Save
your class
1. From the File menu select Save.

2. Give your gradebook a name (e.g. Computer9A) and click the Save button.
At this point, you may either a)
add test columns to your gradebook or b) proceed
to step C and finish setting-up all of your classes first. You can also access
instructions on adding test columns in the Grade Quick reference index if you
decide to do it later.
C. Put a password on your file
1. From the Options menu, select Password Set password.

2. Type in a password you will remember and make sure that CAPS lock is not "on". If possible, DO NOT use the same password as your network logon password (to help confound any student who attempts to change his/her own grades. Choose a password that will be difficult for students to guess. Click the OK button.
3. Type the password again for confirmation and click OK.

4. Save your gradebook.
5. To avoid confusion, it is a good idea to use the same password for every gradebook that you make.
You may change your password at any time by
selecting
Options-Password-Change password.
D. Repeat steps A, B, and C for each class you wish you wish to create.
